Meet the Founder

Siya Patel

Siya founded Her Way In after noticing a pattern that kept repeating around her: girls weren’t lacking opportunity. They were lacking somewhere to turn when the people closest to them pushed back against it.

Scholarships existed. Programs existed. Mentors existed. But so did the moment a girl brought one of those things home and was told to let it go — that it wasn’t for her, that something else was expected of her instead. Too often, she had no one in her corner when that happened.

Her Way In was built to be that person in her corner — the community, the mentorship, and the resources standing behind a girl the moment she decides she wants something different for herself.

It’s not about access to opportunity

It’s easy to assume that if a girl isn’t pursuing a certain path, she simply doesn’t have access to it. Often, that’s not the real story. The opportunity was already there. What was missing was permission — and someone to stand behind her when she reached for it anyway.

The real barrier is support

Family pressure, cultural expectation, and a lack of anyone actively encouraging her to choose differently — that’s what stops girls. Her Way In exists to close that gap: not by creating opportunity from nothing, but by making sure girls have somewhere to turn, and someone telling them it’s okay to walk through the door.
